Query regarding Ayurvedic Medicine Retail License

Query: I saw your videos in YouTube regarding "ayurvedic medicine retailing " sir I have a small Shop where i would like to just sell (retail) ayurvedic medicine and I have a knowledge about ayurvedic medicines but I don't have any license to sell ,few peoples are saying "sell approval" is required and few peoples are saying Ayush license required and when i searched in Google its showing like below so I fully confused on this so I need your confirmation on this sir that what should I do to sell ayurvedic medicine? Please clear my confusion, -------------- Google searched results... "It is compulsory to have AYUSH Retail license if you want to sell Ayurvedic /Unani / siddha medicines or any product related to ayurvedic in India. Qualification required for starting Ayurvedic Manufacturing Unit

In this article, we will discuss about qualification required to start ayurvedic manufacturing unit. For being owner of ayurvedic manufacturing company, there is no qualification required but there is requirement of technical persons for smooth and efficiently running of ayurvedic manufacturing company. Documents and qualification of these competent technical persons will be submitted along with application form while applying for manufacturing license.

Either owner could have required qualification or he/she has to hire staff having required qualification. Without competent technical staff, no ayurvedic manufacturing license is issued.

There are two type of technical persons are required for starting ayurvedic manufacturing company.


Both technical persons should be full time employee of organization. Qualifications of both technical persons are discussed below:

Manufacturing Chemist:

Manufacturing Chemist is person who is responsible for day to day production activity. He/She looks after complete manufacturing process. A manufacturing chemist is defined as an authorized person to conduct, perform and initiate all procedure related to ayurvedic medicines manufacturing.

Qualification:
  • An Ayurvedic Manufacturing Chemist Should possesses either of below qualification:
  • A degree in Ayurveda or Ayurvedic Pharmacy, Siddha or Unani system of medicine, as the case may be, conferred by a University, a State Government or Statutory Faculties, Councils and Boards of Indian Systems of medicines recognized by the Central Government or a State Government for this purpose, or
  • A diploma in Ayurveda, Siddha or Unani system of medicine granted by a State Government for this purpose, or
  • A graduate in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Chemistry or Chemistry or Botany of a University recognized by the Central Government with experience of at least two years in the manufacture of drugs pertaining to the Ayurvedic or Siddha or Unani systems of medicines, or
  • A Vaid or Hakim registered in a State Register of Practitioners of indigenous systems of medicines having experience of at least four years in the manufacture of Ayurvedic or Siddha or Unani drugs, or 
  • A qualification as Pharmacist in Ayurvedic (including Siddha) or Unani systems of medicines, possessing experience of not less than eight years in the manufacture of Ayurvedic or Siddha or Unani drugs as may be recognized by the Central Government.


Analytical Chemist:

An analytical chemist is a person who is responsible for quality, efficacy and sustainability of ayurvedic medicines. He/She looks after all test and quality procedure. An analytical chemist is defined as an authorized person to conduct, perform and initiates all process and procedure related to testing of ayurvedic medicines and quality control.

Qualification:
  • An analytical chemist may a Chemist, Botanist and expert in Ayurveda/Siddha/Unani or Pharmacist who shall possess a degree in Chemistry, Botany, Ayurveda/Siddha/Unani/Bachelor in Pharmacy from a recognized University or equivalent, with experience for 2 years for carrying out tests or analysis as per the Ayurvedic, Siddha and Unani Pharmacopoeias.
